When Ülkü met his wife, Yogi Kazım, he also met yoga. He taught at the Yoga School they owned in Germany. After returning to Turkey, she opened the Nirvana Yoga Center in Bakırköy in 2000.

She continues to give yoga classes with her daughter Hikmet. Ülkü is the mother of three children and has four grandchildren.
